Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 30, 2026
At AKARI, we keep this simple: we only collect what we need to talk with you and improve our website, and we don't sell your information to anyone. Ever.
This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
AKARI is an AI consulting practice based in Nova Scotia, Canada. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, reach out at hello@akari.ca.
What we collect
When you fill out our contact form, we collect the details you give us — typically your name, email address, and whatever you write in your message. We use this only to respond to you and follow up about your inquiry.
When you browse our website, we use analytics (Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, how you arrived, your general location and device type. This helps us make the site better. Analytics data is aggregated and isn't used to personally identify you.
We don't collect anything beyond this on our marketing website. (Hosting and access for client applications is governed separately under your service agreement with us.)
Cookies
Our analytics tools use cookies — small files stored in your browser — to recognize return visits and measure traffic. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work; we just won't see your visit in our analytics.
Why we collect it
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), we collect personal information only with your consent and only for purposes we've identified: responding to your inquiries and improving our website. We don't use it for anything else without asking you first.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for marketing.
The only third parties who touch your data are the service providers that help us run the site and our business — for example, Google Analytics for website analytics. These providers process data on our behalf and aren't permitted to use it for their own purposes.
If we're ever legally required to disclose information (for example, by a court order), we'll do so only to the extent the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep contact form submissions only as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any follow-up, then delete them. Analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider's standard retention settings.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct it if it's wrong
- Withdraw your consent and ask us to delete it
To exercise any of these, just email us at hello@akari.ca and we'll take care of it.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information — encrypted connections, access controls, and limiting who can see your data internally. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your information the way we'd want ours treated.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll make a reasonable effort to let you know.
Questions or concerns
If you have a question, a concern, or a complaint about how we handle your information, email us first at hello@akari.ca — we'd genuinely rather hear from you and fix it.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca.
